Yet these unusual circumstances mean that all of us, from seasoned outdoor enthusiasts to families heading out to their local park for the first time, could use a little guidance about how to stay safe. The Recreate Responsibly guidelines offer a starting point for getting outside to keep yourself healthy and to maintain access to our parks, trails, and beaches. [ LEARN MORE ]

This initiative marks a significant step towards fostering inclusivity and expanding access to outdoor recreation across the state. “This fund will not only support underrepresented communities in accessing and enjoying the outdoors but also create lasting connections to nature and foster stewardship among these groups,” said Ambreen Tariq, Senior Program Director at ORR and Together Outdoors Coalition Lead.

Register for Outdoor Recreation Trade Policy Briefing

U.S. Trade Policy & Outdoor Recreation Industry

The increasing uncertainty around the U.S. trade landscape has placed significant burdens on the outdoor recreation industry. The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable will hold a virtual briefing about the most impactful trade policy opportunities across all sectors of the $1.1 trillion outdoor recreation industry. To continue to thrive and support the millions of Americans who recreate outside each year, and the 5 million American jobs our industry creates, our panelists will discuss the trade landscape and important legislation like the retroactive extension of the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP). At a time when participation in outdoor recreation is breaking records—the urgency to provide certainty for this distinctly American industry is critical.

Access for All: A look at Outdoor Equity Funds

Western Resource Advocates

Outdoor equity funds ensure everyone can access clean water, air, parks, and open spaces, especially underserved communities. This means everyone, regardless of income, location, race, or age, should experience the outdoors. These funds support initiatives that break down barriers and promote inclusivity in outdoor recreation.

Two New Grant Opportunities

Together Outdoors

Together Outdoors (TO) announces two new grant opportunities for fostering inclusivity and diversity in outdoor recreation:

  1. Inclusive Micro-Grant Program: Aimed at supporting small and rural grassroots organizations, this initiative seeks to enhance their capacity in creating a more inclusive outdoor recreation environment. Thanks to foundational support from THOR Industries, TO welcomes contributions from the outdoor recreation community for future grant rounds.

  2. Outdoor Pathway Scholarship: In collaboration with the Outdoor Diversity Alliance, TO has launched a program to connect students from underrepresented communities to outdoor and environmental professions. Recipients will receive $5000 in scholarship funding over two years, mentorship, and assistance with job placement in the outdoor industry or environmental field.
